The mission of the Senior Pet Food Pantry is to make a difference in the lives of low-income seniors by assisting them with pet food to feed their companion animals.

For many who reach their Golden years, a furry friend and companion can make a significant difference in their lives. Studies show that owning a pet can benefit the elderly in a number of ways, including increasing their longevity, lowering their blood pressure, keeping them more active, decreasing depression, easing the loss of a loved one, and providing love and affection. Caring for a cat or a dog, however, can become difficult and often unmanageable when living on a fixed income. Some Seniors sacrifice their own medical and nutritional needs to keep their pets. Others have to give up their loved ones because they simply are unable to afford to provide for them.

WHO WE ARE

The Senior Pet Food Pantry operates as a non-profit 501©3 corporation in Pierce County, Washington, with a dedicated staff of animal-loving volunteers. The Pantry is sustained solely by donations.  Donations go directly to seniors and their pets.

WHAT WE DO

The Senior Pet Food Pantry provides low-income seniors with pet food once a month.  The Pantry is open twice weekly for walk-in clients, and volunteer drivers are available for limited home deliveries.
